The BNW Subaru meet up

I had a lot of fun here at the BNW and this is also my first car show ever, I've always heard of the Portland auto show but I've never attended one so possibly next year I'll be at the car show. These car shows are nice because the cars are all lined up correctly making it photogenic. Only problem I had to deal with was the people walking around in front of the camera, but no biggie. You can either wait for them to move or you can simply go up to them and ask them politely to move, just remember to always be respectful.

After looking at the cars for a bit, I adjusted my camera settings and those settings are ISO 100-200 at f5.6 to f9 and shutter speeds between 1/250 to 1/320. I kept my photos a little bit underexposed just so I don't lose any of the details in the highlights since the sun was out shining nice and bright I had to watch out for sun glare. Of course if I had a polarizer filter that would have helped tremendously if you have one don't forget to use it.

The experience was fun as I mentioned that earlier, I mean what more can you ask for? riight? Beautiful cars are already set up and looking at the small details of the car such as steering wheels, shift knobs, engine parts, head/rear lights, decals can make up the beauty of the car. I hope you guys enjoy the photos below and you can let me know what you think by commenting below. Alright I'll cya all guys later.

Deschutes River Recreation Area Campground

Hey guys, last weekend we had a blast spending the night at Leslie Gulch. I plan on revisiting the area once more, but this past weekend we spent the night at Deschutes River Recreation Area. This is the first time I took my Sony A7iii for a test, I'm still an amature and a long way to being a pro. What you're seeing now is the beginning of becoming a better photographer. I'm quite pleased with the photos I took during this trip, when we woke up the following morning we all decided to visit Mary Hill Stonehenge then Cottonwood Canyon State Park. It was such an eventful day and a rainy one. We had an amazing time and hope you enjoy the photos below and continue to follow this crazy adventure, at the moment I'm keeping an eye out for the weather, moonrise, and moonset so I can go take photos of the night sky before the full moon occurs later this month. Hope I'll see ya on the next blog post :)

I had a hard time seeing the focusing through the viewfinder and little did I realize I failed to set the viewfinders focus dial, silly me these photos are slightly off focus because I use manual focus for landscape. Used Sony A7iii with Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM

In this photo I was trying to smooth out the water by doing a slight long exposure of 4 sec, came out alright I was testing out the new lens with the Sony A7iii. As mentioned I didn't set the viewfinder focus even though I have the LCD screen to go off of I use it from time to time, Used Sony A7iii with Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM.

This photo has been taken by hundreds of people but the weather and timing is always different, viewing Maryhill State park and Hwy 97 Bridge from Maryhill Stonehenge is a spectacular view. If it was a clear day you can see Mt. Hood from here. Used Sony A7iii with Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM.

Just a random photo I decided to take, it was raining pretty hard here at Cottonwood Canyon State Park. It was a little challenging but I was in a hurry since I was getting soaked by the rain and at least my camera was safe with small umbrella. Used Sony A7iii with Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM.

As we were driving out, my cousins husband he wanted to get to see this view so we parked off the side of the road and walked over the side to see this full view. John Day river is to left and runs through Cottonwood Canyon State Park. You can see the dark clouds above the hill, it was still raining pretty hard, my Sony A7iii was fine no harm done. Used Sony A7iii with Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM.

We decided to make a stop at Rowena Crest Viewpoint, I've seen this photo many times online, its hard not to take this photo haha, it was an overcast day, no rain when we got there unlike Cottonwood Canyon State Park. We stayed here for a while enjoying the view of the Columbia River Gorge. Used Sony A7iii with Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM.

For our last stop, we decided to stop at Mayer State Park, I came quite a few times last year taking photos of the night sky. They had to wait a little as I was doing a long exposure with ND Grad filters, pretty happy with what I got, Decided to do B&W for this photo cause of high contrast that I added in lightroom, which seemed more appealing to my eyes. Used Sony A7iii with Sony FE 16-35mm F2.8 GM.

Leslie Gulch Campground

Hello again, this past weekend my family and I went to Leslie Gulch Campground. Holy moly its an 8hr 30min drive from Portland, OR. This place is soo beautiful, its near Jordan Valley, OR and Lake Owyhee Resevoir. I had a wonderful time here with my family, its a shame I didn't get to take more pictures because of limited time. Its a long drive back home and the kids have school so we didn't want to stay longer.
Anyways more about photography haha. There are a few photos I took during our stay at Leslie Gulch Campground, I wish I had taken more photos during the evening but the weather didn't work out well, I do love taking photos of the night sky and there's always next time.

The photos below were all shot on my Sony A6000 with the Sony E 35mm lens f/1.8 or the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8. I also used my Mavic Air in the area to do some drone footage, I'm still learning how to fly so this was an excellent opportunity to do so, I've provided the link of the video I put together that early morning.
Thanks again for coming by the website and checking out my photos. I have a couple more trips coming up because I want to start using my new camera, the Sony A7iii. Can't wait to see how it performs . Hope you enjoy the photos below.

As I was driving in before the campground, I couldn't help myself but to come to a complete stop on the side of the road to pull out my tripod and camera. Very beautiful and the rock formations is just out of this world. Used Sony E 35mm ISO 100 1/20s f/11 for the foreground and ISO 100 1/30s f/11 for the sky, blended both in photoshop and edited in lightroom.

During the evening hours, I really wanted to do some star trails but the weather was not the best. It was cloudy most of the night, I was lucky i got 2 photos with star trails. Also learned to not do this settings because of hot pixels being introduced for really long exposure, which i found out after doing a little research. Used Sony E 35mm ISO 100 20min exposure f/1.8 Edited in lightroom.

I was very pleased with this photo near the campground, again I made the mistake of doing really long exposure which introduced more hot pixels. Used Sony FE 50mm ISO100 20min exposure f/1.8. Edited in Lightroom.

After taking 2 photos of 20min exposure, I decided to keep this one short and I must say I'm still pleased, however I noticed hot pixels when reviewing it in Lightroom. Used Sony FE 50mm 5min Exposure f/1.8 Edited in lightroom

After seeing how the weather turned out during the night, went to bed right away and decided to take photos at sunrise. Woke up around 5am and drove down to the nearby ramp in lake owyhee, I was a little disappointed that the cloud coverage was 100% but I still waited in hopes that I'd get light(didn't happen). Used Sony E 35mm ISO 100 15s, f11 cokin 3 stop ND Grad filter. Edited in lightroom.

With the sunrise not happening and also being very windy, I looked back at my car and noticed the rock formations in the background. I stared at my car for a bit and thought to myself what am I doing? My father said, "Are you going to take a photo of your car?" I said, "Of course!" I set up the tripod and took the photo. Used Sony E 35mm ISO 100 2s f/11, Edited in lightroom.

Day trip to the Painted Hills

Hello again, 2 days ago I went out with the family to the painted hills and smith rock. Fun day for all of us, though it was almost a whoopin 5 hour drive. Nice scenic drive for the family, anyways I recently got a 30mm f/3.5 macro lens that I wanted to use and test out. I'm not very technical with the gears so I don't know a whole lot about them, however the photos I took that day I'm quite pleased, after we left the painted hills we all went to smith rock, missed the sunset but i was able to get a photo in. Thats it for this weekend and as spring break begins this week, we'll see what other adventures awaits us.

first photo using Sony E mount 30mm f/3.5mm macro lens and I'm impressed with it. Planning on using it more often for some interesting shots. Edited in lightroom.

This is the best view from Carroll Rim Trail in my opinion, never gets old to see this spectacular view, Used Sony FE 50mm f1.8 lens and edited in lightroom.

Blended two images together here to test out my photoshop skills and it looks okay to me it was one exposure for the sky and one for the foreground. Used Sony E mount 35mm f/1.8 edited in lightroom.

Startrail at Tolovana Beach

Earlier in the night I drove out to Cannon beach to do night sky photography, took about an hour and 40 mins, I was trying to look for a spot to take a photo of haystack rock, ended up driving down south of cannon beach at Tolovana Beach State Recreation site. Normally I see bunnies scattered all over the place(probably still cold for them to be out), pretty sure they're hiding haha.
Anyways I came here to do night sky photography, however I didn't like what I was originally seeing so I decided to do a star trail with a 10 minute long exposure. It came out like I hoped it would but didn't get the foreground in focus. I'm still learning all of this stuff so I thought it'd be a good opportunity to practice to get better. Used Sony A6000, 35mm lens, ISO 200, F1.8, and 10min exposure.

I'm still planning the next trip for this coming weekend so we'll see what adventure awaits us! :)

This is so cool, but it isn't perfect.

Night at The Cove Palisades

Hey guys, I've been feeling sick this week. I did however went out to take a photo at the cove palisades, Two and a half hour drive from Portland, quite the drive through the night and arrived at around 10pm, I parked off the side of the road and waited for my eyes to adjust to the dark which typically takes about 30mins. I saw a cluster of stars on top of the canyon to the far right of the orion belt, did a little research and its the Pleiades star cluster.
Cause I was sick I didn't want to stay around for long, probably the worst idea to rush to take photos haha, anyways I wanted to do a panoramic of the canyon but didn't come out right so I just put 6 photos together which you'll find in "latest" tab. Thanks for coming by and reading my blog! Have a wonderful day :)
